Piedmont ASTD website

Piedmont ASTD

Piedmont Chapter of the American Society of Training and Development

Brief Project Description : Customized WordPress Content Management System, Search Engine Optimization

ASTD provides information, research, analysis and practical information derived from its own research, the knowledge and experience of its members, its conferences, expositions, seminars, publications and the coalitions and partnerships it has built through research and policy work. The ASTD Piedmont Chapter is the leading professional association for linking people, learning and performance.

The previous site did not reflect the level of professionalism or energy of the Piedmont Chapter. 1721 Media developed a WordPress theme package with a splash introductory page and cascading style sheet (CSS) styling. We used stock photography throughout the site, in contrast to their previous use of snap shots and clip art. And based the color pallete on the colors of their pre-existing logo. Much of the copy was retained, edited slightly for site engine optimization (SEO). We retained PASTD’s member log in script and event registration area. It all dovetailed in, with a little elbow grease.

The transition to the new website has gone over nicely, with only a small learning curve on the clients part. They were updating a static site (HTML and CSS) using Dreamweaver before so the switch to WordPress was not too difficult. The Chapter continues to get positive reviews about their new design from other ASTD Chapters across the US.

A4RC Website

A4RC

A4RC Website -  Alliance for the Advancement of African Americans Researchers in Computing

Linda Hargrove served as the primary contractor for the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NCA&T) Alliance for Advancing African American Researchers in Computing (A4RC) project.

A4RC, a multi-university group of researching and teaching universities across the nation, desired a business informational site that correctly attracts, fully informs, and appropriately motivates its audience, which consists of college age African Americans, fellow university researchers, and potential funders.

To help A4RC reach their goals, Ms. Hargrove supplied logo development, poster design, as well as web design and development. She developed the site on Website Baker, a moderate-sized business-class content management system (CMS) in a Linux/MySQL environment. The site, www.a4rc.org, was launched in 2007, on schedule and within budget. Today, the Alliance continues to find the site useful in its outreach efforts
